Spring Break 2012 has come and gone. We didn’t leave the state, but the kids and I did leave town for a few days and spend some time with my family.
all Texas roadtrips require a stop for ice cream at Dairy Queen
I got to love on my six month old niece, although I think I may have scarred her for life when I got to try feeding her bananas and she made the most disgusted face I’ve ever seen. I save that face for olives, defintely not bananas! If that wasn’t bad enough, my little guy almost drowned her when ‘helping’ her get a bath. Babies do NOT need an entire cup of water poured over their head in one big dump.
I got to spend some time with my sister and meet her new beau. My little guy may have scarred him for life when he went into some big story about a ninja kicking another ninja and dying. I promise he only watches PBS kids! Apparently the story lines on Clifford have gotten a little dark. Oh wait, they watched Kung Fu Panda 2 on the drive. Darn you Jack Black!
We spent some time with an old friend and her friends at a local park. There was a gutter area with clean running water that the kids asked to play in and, after neither one of us was able to come up with a good reason to say no, we let them at it. As we walked to the car with muddy, wet kids (with enormous smiles), I’m pretty sure we scarred some of the new moms at the park.
Back in San Antonio, we got to dog-sit for our neighbor. My daughter became completely bonded with the dogs in about 4.3 seconds. After giving the dogs back today, she has cried no less than 3 times. They were completely adorable. My little guy, the ninja lover, was a bit of a bull in a china shop around them. I had to say “put the dog down, wait, no, NOT ON THE TABLE, on the floor!” to him today. Think those dogs are scarred for life?
